Local stores

DISCLAIMER: there are a lot of independent record stores that participate in Record Store Day. Not all of them will choose to participate in all promotions, or carry all releases. Just because a store is listed here does NOT mean it will have the goodie or record you are looking for. That said, find a store near you and check with them directly. It is always a good idea to be BFFs with your neighborhood record store.

For Janet Jackson's tenth studio effort entitled Discipline, she ventured into new creative waters and worked with producers such as Jermaine Dupri, Rodney Jerkins and Ne-Yo. The album was executive produced by Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid and Jackson herself and features guest appearances by Missy Elliott and Ne-Yo.

Janet Jackson has the best personal trainer ever. In between albums and tours the paparazzi always manage to snap the most unflattering photos of her (because, you know, size 4 is disgusting), but when it's time to do the dog and pony show for the press' yowza. For a woman so enamored with change, it's no surprise that her tenth album (yes, she has as many as Kylie' damn) shakes things up a bit. First, it's her debut on Island Def Jam after a long'"and increasingly stagnant'"relationship with Virgin. Second, she parts ways with longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, opting instead for the hydra-headed production roster of Rodney Jerkins, D'Mile, Jermaine Dupri, Stargate, Ne-Yo, Tricky Stewart and the Dream. Will this tinkering result in a major overhaul of her signature R&B purr? Only in a good way, if the multifaceted "Feedback" is any indication.
