PRESERVATION HALL

Perhaps a little part of you wishes you were in New Orleans right now (assuming you’re not). What with a sports victory and Mardi Gras to celebrate, it’s kind of a good time to be strutting down Bourbon St. If you are in New Orleans, you should stop by Preservation Hall and check out nightly French Quarter jazz as it was meant to be. And if you’re not in New Orleans, then celebrate by picking up PRESERVATION: An Album to Benefit Preservation Hall and The Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program which is a collection of jazz songs done by Jason Isbell, Ani DiFranco, Andrew Bird, Jim James, Buddy Miller, Paolo Nutini, Tom Waits and MORE... It’s coming out on the appropriate Fat Tuesday, 2/16. (Jim James is upping the ante even more by taking his band My Morning Jacket out on the road in April with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band.) Here, why don’t you take a look at this video, and get a little bit of the spirit of the thing:
