THE HIVES TARRED & FEATHERED
We’ll let Howlin’ Pelle tell you a little more about The Hives’ new 7” EP, Tarred & Feathered, and each of the three cover songs on it:
HOWLIN' PELLE QUOTES-
ON EP IN GENERAL :
While working on songs for our new record, we wanted to sort of kick start the creative process by going in to the studio to record. We had an idea of playing everything live - straight to magnetic tape. We didn't have finished songs so we recorded some covers instead, mostly to test this modus operandi. Well, it turned out so good that we figured, hey, let’s share it with people! They deserve it.
Civilization's Dying: Just one of the greatest punk rock songs never written about in English music press. Funny how so many of the good ones are from the American Midwest! Not a lot of lyrics to learn since it only has one verse and one chorus that you repeat a few times. So you remember it. By the Zero Boys from Indianapolis.
Early Morning Wake Up Call: A song about being young and dumb and in a rock band trying to have fun in the snake nest that is the music industry. We can relate. Written by Angus and Malcolm from AC/DCs older brother George. (by Flash and the Pan- George Young & Harry Vanda)
Nasty Secretary: Here is a song about a simple subject we can all relate to. Being on hold on the phone. It sure aint fun. The song ends in a frustrated scream to "GET OUT MY RIFLE". Yikes. By Joy Ryder and Avis Davis, who were involved in the No Nukes campaign.
