VISIT WEBSITE

Piccadilly Record was born in 1978, and was taken over by the present management in 1990 and moved up the road to our current location in Manchester's record shopping Mecca, the Northern Quarter in 1997. We specialise in a wide range of genres: Indie / avant-rock / drone / electroclash / krautrock / psyche / downbeat / Balearic / folk / techno / house / electronica / hip hop / nu-jazz / dubstep / broken beats / breaks / disco / funk / exotica / reggae / Latin …. the list is endless; and we pride ourselves in our knowledge of the music we sell. We are all music fans here and hope that our passion for music and the hard work we put into the shop and our website create a unique environment that you won’t find shopping in the identikit chains or with the faceless online warehouses. We are always keen to support local and unsigned artists and have been among the first to stock debut releases from The Charlatans, Badly Drawn Boy, Doves, Elbow (add any others you can thing of – maybe some newer bands or dance stuff) to name but a few. We also host many instore performances with some of the highlights so far being: LCD Soundsystem, Pulp, Richard Hawley, The Earlies, Muse, Radiohead, Badly Drawn boy, Laura Marling, Duke Spirit and King Creosote. All of this has led to us receiving many accolades and awards including the Music Week Awards – Best UK Independent Store, and Giles Peterson’s World Wide Award – Record Shop Of The Year.
