Bull Moose RSD Celebration - Portsmouth

The Portsmouth, NH Bull Moose location announced two new artists to play in their store on Record Store Day. Kurt Baker at 1 p.m. and The Mallet Brothers Band at 6:30 p.m. Portland, Maine native Kurt Baker, formally of pop/punk band the Leftovers, is a rock-n-roll singer and songwriter who released his solo album Rockin’ for a Living this past fall. Both he and his music are known to be high-energy and entertaining, perfect for RSD’s live concerts. The Mallet Brothers Band, also hailing from Portland, Maine, are an alternative country-rock band made up of Luke Mallett, Will Mallett, Nick Leen, Nate Soule, Wally Wenzel, and Brian Higgins. They were voted the best local act and local album by the Phoenix in 2011, and released their latest album Low Down last October.

Those two performances sandwich the previously scheduled Winterpills show at 4 p.m The band is originally from Northampton, MA, but has made a name for itself far beyond its New England roots. The Washington Post called the band's music “densely packed but hugely evocative, tiny bombs of feeling and meaning… fiendishly melodic.” Their folk-pop rootsy-rock songs have been featured on several television shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood, and Skins. The Winterpills released All My Lovely Goners on February 14 and will release it on vinyl on Record Store Day. 82-86 Congress St., Portsmouth, N.H.
